Professional Roofers Advisory Council
Our Credentials
Attendance at a Professional Roofer Advisory Council satisfies one of the requirements for the Select Shingle Roofer program, and is by invitation only.
CertainTeed meets with contractors across the U.S. to discuss current information about the roofing business. Contractors use these meetings as an opportunity to express opinions, discuss issues with other contractors and stay up to date with roofing industry news and technical issues.
About Liscensing
The Shingle Master Company provides clients the security of having a qualified, knowledgeable crew on their roof. At the heart of this program is the Shingle Applicator’s Manual, which specifies the requirements for installing a high-quality roof system. Becoming a Shingle Master Company requires a commitment to professionalism and dedication to quality craftsmanship that few roofing companies demonstrate.
The Master Shingle Applicator™ program is an education in every aspect of shingle installation techniques, and the approved procedures for installing all CertainTeed shingles. The program covers topics such as workmanship, roof systems, estimating, flashing, ventilation, and product installation instructions.
This credential allows us to offer our clients 12 year, 4 star extended warranty coverage, and complete customer satisfaction and quality workmanship.
The Quality Master™ program is an educational program that helps contractors to provide quality service. The Shingle Technology Manual provides information about how the design of a high quality asphalt shingle results in better performance, and how to offer customers good, better and best options. All members of the Patriot Roofing staff, including office administrators, have successfully completed this course.

We have a Commercial General Liability Certificate for Liability Insurance. Beware: Many roofing contractors are not covered by Commercial General Liability Insurance but claim to be by using copies of out-of-date policies.
There is no such thing as a roofing license in Texas. Don't be fooled by fraudulent licenses.
There is currently no requirement for licensing in residential or commercial roofing in Texas. If someone claims to be a “licensed” roofer – be very wary and find out if they are referring to a Plumber’s license, drivers license, a hunting license, or what! (None of these will help insure you are getting a qualified roofing contractor.) There are ways to determine if you are dealing with a qualified roofing contractor in Texas, but a license is not one of them.
